Dan's recovery 3/3.

What a day we had!

The speech therapist and the respiratory doctor put a small cap on the tracheotomy valve...  he said "hello"!  The next few hours he was talking about all kinds of things.  Very practical things.  And for those of you who have had the pleasure of a lengthy conversation with Dan.  He elaborated in his own beautiful way.  Phrases like "well darling, you will have to help me communicate what I need".  Just the word darling set my heart racing!

Not to jump ahead of myself.  He is connecting with his body all over.  His right side, that was a bit weak, is moving very well.  His neurons are sizzling.  You can see it in his limbs.  In the way he expresses himself with his hands.  Movements are becoming fine and articulate.  What all of this means I do not know exactly.   Hopefully his Doctors will give us an assessment.

It has been 17 1/2 long days.  I know this will be a long and winding road for Dan.  I am so grateful to be at my partners side for whatever is next.  One day at a time.  Thank you for love and support.

Elizabeth
