Subject : Dan Keyser Trauma

Dan Keyser crashed while navigating through the Pass about 1 pm. He is presently in route to Ventura County Medical Center via Ventura County Sheriff’s Helicopter.

Initial indications are that Dan has serious head trauma as well as a broken shoulder, broken ankle, probable punctured lung, and broken ribs. He has facial lacerations and was bleeding from his mouth, ears, and nose. He is somewhat responsive but not consciously coherent. He is making guttural sounds and appears to have awareness of pain. His helmet was intact.

Ron Faoro coordinated from the air, but was unable to raise anyone on 46 and finally got help of 25. He was able to execute a landing near him and got to Dan about a half hour after impact. The helicopter arrived about 2 pm and they were airborne about 40 minutes later around 2:40.

Bob Hurlbett is the designated point of contact. His cell number is 570-8680. Ron is still at the crash site with one of the helicopter crew members and is collecting the gear in anticipation of helicopter pickup later. I’m sure he will post a detailed report. His cell number is 689-2297, but he is presently still actively engaged in priority task.

The crash site was between West Divide and East Divide
