Paraglider Dies In Crash Between Fillmore And Piru
KVTA News Tuesday November 20, 2012
A man died in the crash of a paraglider into the Santa Clara riverbed between Fillmore and Piru Tuesday afternoon. Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Steve Swindle told KVTA News that the incident was reported around 2:30 PM by some workers in a nearby orchard who witnessed it. Ventura County firefighters responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Swindle says it's believed the man is in his mid 20's. He was flying a motorized paraglider which is a rectangular shaped parachute that looks like a wing attached to a seat and motorized fan that provides thrust so it can stay aloft. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department and Medical Examiner's Office will investigate what happened.
