Chris G put out the call for a 9:30 Nordhoff HS meet time. Prompt 9:35 departure. Lot's of clouds, would it be good or OD'ed? Arrived at launch to find CB about 200/500 ft over and a steady flow of solid cycles flowing upward, yepeee! I set up to go first, with Tye and visiting pilot Philip to launch behind me. Chris suggested that if I could fly around for awhile, top land and then he could take a flight. Sounded like a great plan. But so much for the best laid plans of mice and men, less than tens minutes off launch, I caught boomer and started climbing, cloud base dropped and at 5600 I had to head straight out to get clear of the white room. As I was heading into the big blue, I could hear, "Marco, Marco?" over the radio, so I yelled out, "Polo" a couple of times. As I reached the S. side of Three Stooges with 4000 and found another cumi forming to the S/W. Took the lifting drift towards Bruce's and arrived just below the top of the spine. As I continued along, I kept finding nice pops, very little sink and a nice tail wind as I headed towards Nordhoff. At 4500 out front, headed toward the HS. Took a slight detour and glided over to Chad's house for a fly by, but I didnt see anybody in the yard. It was time to head for the field across from the HS. The field was hopping and It was fun just soaring around for awhile to the cheers of the little kids in the play yard of the nearby pre-school. It was a sweet flight and when I met up later with Tye and Philip, they too had a day that exceeded their expectations. Sweet!! Thanks Chris for driving.
