grey sky tuesday

the grey sky seemed dooming for much soaring possibily but had a few hours off from work and needed to get that uhhhhhhhhhhh feeling when you disconnect from the ground. took a 3/4 full eagle bus up the hill along with nicks hg on top to ej bowl. nick did a two trip huff with his hg stuff up to the parapanty launch, bad ass.... peloquin flung off first and went smoothly up, that got us lemmings rustled. i quickly followed and floated a few hunj over ole ej and meandered on over to the peak. got a wide, smooth, slow, no wind one up to 5300...uhhhhhhhhhhh!!(maybe slight NW/SW convergence) headed west and didnt make any headway, just lost a ton of altitude in a stiff NW wind(lower down was SW). turned tail and was getting a fat push out of the N and was a wus with all the glider dancin as i boated over rr, thermal factory, parkers, and then APS. content and happy, i setup at parma, where it took another 20 or more enjoyable minutes to get down. parma was crackin back to 2000 for a long long time. jah got to thermal factory and back to ej, leeside proved that the shackles he just acquired in mexico :) were'nt gonna weigh him down as he was high bouncin all over the place, nick was killing it on his hg and jumpin point to point, michelle and marge were gettin sum, a couple out of towners did great, and it seemed the grey skies put a smile on everyones faces.

Arrived at EJB and the cycles were coming in solid, but by the time I had gotten set up, it went dead. The high clouds had calmed the blocking cycles and at times it was coming over the back. A blue hole opened up and 10 minutes later I launched. Nice lift right in front, several hundred over and took the glide to the R&R, good lift in all the usual places. At TF the cycles were very strong, which was surprising with the high cloud cover. The ceiling was at about 4600, but those nasty scuzy clouds slowed things down. Found lots of lift to 1800 out front for a prolonged tour of the neighborhood around Parma, before landing there.
