7 am update: Some high clouds to contend with, but looks like decent hole coming our way. More moisture than lasts night’s perception. Lapse rate is still very strong and really cold at altitude. Not much wind, but the forecast is for a little flow from the SW and Debbie is already reporting SW at dawn, so if you add a little base south to strong thermal draw there could be some local penetration issues in the draw paths and hopefully a little tailwind at altitude… John isn’t leaving a car at Castiac, so we are a bit ahead of schedule, estimating Bailard about 8:20ish so expect to be airborne before 10.

Sunday night look at Monday is promising. The lapse rate is forecasted to be strong with a 30 degree F spread from sea level to 6K. The air mass is dry enough that cloud base should be high, but there may be some early low level fog and inversion due to radiation cooling on the surface. The winds at altitude are light, but there may be strong local draw from the south. Need to dress warm. South Side is departing LA around 7 am, then leaving a vehicle at Castaic Junction and meeting Diablo at Bailard Ave about 8:30. Expect to be airborne around 10ish.
