Hello, I'm new to the area drove for some a while back and a site up here in Santa maria came up in conversation. Plowshare, can someone tell me a little more about it? Wind direction,LZ's,speed, skill. It looks like on Google Earth a westerly site with the intentions of going over the back. Thanks Jeff

For decent, pretty accurate general info. on Plowshare, look at the site info. on slosa.net and topaflyers.com. It is a great but somewhat fickle site. You also have to know where not to land; I got mildly chewed-out the last time I flew there after landing in a spot that I thought was OK. To the best of my knowledge, it gets little to no use in winter; it's just not "on" now. I'm not even sure if the road is open in winter. Spring is the best time of year; I've also heard of pilots doing well there in early summer and in fall (but not this late in fall).
