Hike and Fly Ojai

If anyone is interested in hike and flying in Ojai, it would be great to meet up.
I live in Ojai and am a P2. I have yet to fly the mountains here so I really am looking for some one with knowledge to get site introductions.
I have a really flexible schedule outside of Sundays.

Really any flying in Ojai I would be up for or car pooling over to SB for mountain days would be great too.

Welcome to the forum Keegan. There is only one hike-up site in Ojai and it's not P2 friendly. The launch is barely big enough to lay a wing out and there is no runway, it's a pullupturnandgo with no mistakes allowed launch. If your thermaling (scratching) skills are weak or the day isn't on you have to land on the 33 below launch and the gravel trucks don't stop for us.

I would suggest you join up with us the next time a truck goes to Chief's. Better launch and LZ's from there. Watch the flight discussion board on the weekends, that's your best bet for Ojai airtime. John.
