Saturday, 5/15 - 5/17 Visiting Pilot

Postby JimP » Thu May 13, 2010 5:54 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the rare position to be able to drive from San Jose to San Diego over the weekend and was really hoping to fly in Santa Barbara. I should be showing up around noon on Saturday and was hoping hoping hoping someone could give me a site briefing and weather prospects for the weekend.

Also, any good camping in the area? Be fun to turn it into a camping trip too.

Thanks!!

Jim

You might be better off going to Kagel or Crestline. I'm not sure if anybody from our club is doing the Figueroa Mtn camping trip.I've got to work all weekend.

Good luck,
Ben

You can fly SB but soaring forecast is weak. Just show up at the Tee or Parma Park for a carpool ride up. Check Eagleparagliding and Fly Above All websites to see if they are providing van rides up and at what time. You can camp in the mountains or beach parks. SB suffers from marine layer inversion presently as our season is giving way to the summer offseason. Inland sites like Kagel, Crestline & Marshal will be good mtn soaring tomorrow. You can camp at Andy Jackson Flight Park. Several of us are heading to Marshal to fly tomorrow.

What is the magic time to meet at the Andy Jackson Park (for Marshall) on Sat?

Jim,

I'm up for flying today, but apparently I didn't save your number.

Give me a call,
Zac
