Big Sur

Oh yeah baby. Big Sur was in full splendor. No fog. Kirra turned two at Big Sur and enjoyed a gorgeous Saturday at the beach with Ali, Kai and Skippy. She just loves camping!! The evening party's had some great music being played and a large group of nice people. Of course it missed some of the other regulars who I normally see there. I hope to see them the next club trip!!
Big Sur was first being very selective on giving out bountiful lift on Saturday and then giving freely on Sunday. I only flew Saturday but watched those have a grand time Sunday. There were many more happy smiles and longer flights for those who flew Sunday. As for Saturday, the offshore wind was very stingy on backing off, and when it finally did it allowed Justin, Cormack and myself who launched moments after the flag turned a nice climb into the sky. Due to bathroom concerns and desires to explore elsewhere I found myself briefly alone and that's all it took. The convergence quickly moved away and I with it. AND, I had a new push to talk working and o.k. I gave reports of the climb upward and upward. I followed some birds around, then a rat, but saw there was no cheese to be had in his lair. Came back to the honey hole and climbed skyward 4000, 4,500, 5,000, 5,200, 5,500, 5,800, 6,000, and finally topped out at 6,128 as I drifted back, back, back away. Of course it was fun being out there alone, but, alone I was and it would have been better to have had a few friends to go on some jaunts togethor. I never even saw or bird or bug at my altitude. Eventually, after awhile I flew way out over the water then back to the mountains and then a nice soft landing in front of the clapping crowd. King for a day, that was nice but the hour and a half of cruising around and enjoying new vistas, like looking into the back valley was the really enjoyable part. So let's hear about Sunday. I saw Li'l John cruising the range and John Lyon battling for a long time out there as well as Tammy cruising around and even Conner Lyon doing an aerobatic tandem with Aaron La Plante, a pumped Jay and many other smiling faces.....

What a wonderful weekend. We are so lucky to have a flying site like that so close to us. I put together a little video from the weekend. Thank you everyone who put it together!

Cormac, my daughter loves your video. Especially the fire and the music when Michelle is doing her acro she starts bobbing up and down. I think a couple days isn't enough at Big Sur. How about a week? See you there next time. Great video!!
