Try going to the source Chris. Call Tracon 805.681.0116, and they will confirm that the TFR had been cancelled. The hydro mulch planes have ceased operations. The paperwork has not been processed so the websites you make reference to will update when that happens. So anybody in this zip code is legal to go get their flap on slim. As I said in my previous post…Hell Yeah!!!

TRACON: "The TFR is still officially active but may be cancelled within the next few days."

The humans at Tracon in Santa Barbara report the TFR has been lifted just as they did yesterday. Lets go flying!

We must be talking to two different people. As far as I know the FAA considers the TFR active until the cancellation has been published. Dave Baldwin might be able to clarify but I'm pretty sure some guy in an office declaring it cancelled doesn't make it official. I'd be hesitant to go blowing through a TFR until it's actually official.

Call Frank (you will see he is not just “some guy in an office”) at SB Tracon, and he will explain to you that it is OK for us to fly right now if we wish, just as it was OK to fly yesterday if we had good weather. Frank was the guy who called LA yesterday and cancelled the TFR. He assured me we are all good Chris. He is likely tired of getting calls on the matter, but I suggest you give him a bell so you can let this go.

Didn't see any planes that might report me...

Aaron, John and I flew today from the Eliminator.

It was blowing down when we first got there, but came up before we decided to leave. John found some bubbles and maintained for an hour or so. Aaron headed straight for the always welcoming beach. I followed gaining a little at the Antanae farm and then circled with John briefly before I flew over Parma at 1500'. Arriving at the beach just under 700', I got my jollies off with a couple wing-overs and a downwind swoop where I thought my harness boot would touch before pulling up to turn and land.

I really enjoy breaking down barefoot in the grass, soaking up the sun with my shirt off at the beach.

California dreaming... nope, livin'!

Peace out,
Zip
