marty made the nuthouse hike a true labor day experience today. while art and i punked out and took the easy route, he blazed a new mountaineer's traverse that might never catch on but at least covered his excercise requirements for september!
i was off at 11:45 and over the back ridge in about one minute in a smokin lift cycle. fairly predictable, edgy and thermic nuthouse and nordhoff ridges got me eastbound over bruces w/ 4500. stopping for a little lift at stooges, i got to twin peaks' west side bowl @ 150 below and after minor scratching was over chief spine~ rapidly chewing it up to 5500. i flew up the spine to tag chief peak and fly-by fast eddie and the hang crew at launch. topping out around 6400 south of the road, i headed back west. i tanked up at bruces and glided out w/4600 after 1.5 hours. we all landed at the high school.
