Late Flight Saturday

Postby Tony de Groot » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:39 pm

Swept off the dust and cat hair on my trusty Falcon and after the baby went for a nap hooked up with Kip and, I forgot his name, but another pilot from LA I've seen before who graciously gave retrieve for Kip and me a ride up. Kip had a nice flight earlier and went to the beach and even though it was getting near 3 when I launched it still was blowing in smooth at the Eliminator launch. I haven't flown for awhile and the look down launch was kinda intimidating with all the brush gone and just the black pungie sticks waiting for you. A nice climb out welcomed me back at launch and soared over Thermal Factory for awhile. As it was getting later I ventured to the Antane farm and then the round house where my battery in my vario died. O.K. lets see, it's 3:42 now let's see how long you can hang on for. Eventually looking for lift at the Monastary and a lone dragon fly showed me the core up. I've never cored with a dragon fly before, but.......if it works.... The occational buzzard would come in and join me for awhile and the gorgeous, beautiful ocean was an amazing sight. Flying with no noise was so peaceful and made it more of a dream state. Finally touched down, er, mini-whack (but no one saw it) at 4:32 in uppers. Nice to get a flight in after soooo long off.

Hey Tony,

My name is Arthur. And I'm glad you had a good one.

Went to Big Caliente after dropping you and had a really nice soak.

Arthur,

Glad you had a good soak. Saw you driving up the hill. Thanks for the lift up and see you again in the air sometime.

Cheers,
