If you havn't flown Oat Mt. in Fillmore, you're missing some fun. I texted Nitrous this am and he was go for the afternoon. I hit twitter and facebook to see if anyone else was game, but people must have jobs or something. RaeLynn was in to drive so off we went to pick up Mark at the LZ.
At launch the cycles were very light and we thought it might be a quick sledder to the LZ. I launched first and was able to hang around launch altitued for a while, but when Nitrous launched we spread out and started the long, slow scratch fest to Goodenough road.
We were about 2/3's of the way down when I heard something scratchy on the radio about "ridge", and Mark was working a ridge, so that's where I went. When I arrived, Mark gave me some space, I caught some zeros, and he caught the escalater down.
I hung on getting up 30', 50', 80'; then the swifts arrived and it was game on. Soon I was back over the top and lift was abundent, but had some edges. I landed, looked around, and launched again into the swifts.
We flew around for awhile and Mark top landed. It took me a while to get back into a position where I could try again and set down next to Mark.
RaeLynn had made it back to the LZ by this time, so after a drink we launched and boated around some more before landing next to the car.
Three flights, about 1~1.5 hours airtime.
Thanks to Mark for snatching up this great site and being available to fly mid-week. If anyone is interested, there's a LZ for sale in Fillmore, and it comes with an orchard and a house.
