Flying Fiesta Friday

I dont know what it was. The Ninio, la Ninia o la Santa MAria. But dude! it was sweet!!

If your name is not Lee,Claudia, Ty , Magic MariT,marge Rob or yours truly then you missed out!

The van took us to skyport to find hope amidst the desolation left by the fires.
MAn! Launch looks so spiffy!
Thanks to the hearty souls that put it all back together!

Anyways, nice cycles at launch so Ty went for it, he made it look good as he started climbing right away.
Then Rob went for it, but he doesnt count. Flying what he flies. He probably has the beach on glide anyways...
He did go all over the place just cause he can. (and to get ready for Utah, watch out comp boys!)
Lee and Clauida tandemed off Ejs and had a blast.
I had a lame cycle and wimpered to the Round house.
Some brave souls opted to go for St Marys just to make sure it was still there (it is)
Ty and I did the Yo-yo thing spotting thermals for each other and just having a grand time flying in August!!!
Twice i got to 3200 but got greedy as it seemed to be getting better.
Did I tell you about the cummies poping around?
Cummies in august!

We flew for about an hour and then went to Parma.
Some could have made the beach but opted to land in parma so that we could go back up for more.
It was its ussual self, poppy and windy and thermic and oh so lovely to be in the air again!!!

We went back up for more.
Magic drove and Rob flew tandem
I took off on mellow cycle and beelined for the Thermal F spine.
I lucked out for there was a nice release right as I got ther that busted me to 3600 or more.
I waited for Rob for he wanted to check conditions at St Marys also so I left on glide for the beach.
So super sweet to land there, so nice this time of the year.

BUt wait!
Rob went back up a 3rd time, loitered for a while waiting for his elevator ride and flew the happy passanger to the beach!!!!

So
Xmas does come early to Sta Barbara.

Thanks again!

Dude!!! what a great day of flying (compared to the last 2 months of my flying). Like Kabir said, I was able to climb out probably 200 feet over launch, headed to the thermal factory and found no love, so crossed the power lines for the antenna farm and found 3 hawks that showed me a nice thermal. Flew around for 1 hour 20 minutes with Kabir in that area. Saw cumies over Santa Ynez peak, and maybe in the White Ledge area, but nothing too eye popping over our area. Just a few teasers. Wasn't able to get above 3000. I was looking at the bottom of Kabir's new pod most of the time I looked up. Man, that pod looks suuuhhweeeeeet!. I pointed my glider towards the beach and was getting a great glide, but it wasn't in the bag, so I headed to Parma to meet with the Posse. Rob and Lee were specked heading out towards the city, but landed at Parma to get back up for some more flights. Nice warmup before we head off to Utah next week. Skyport looks great. Thanks again to all who contributed. lots of sticks looking for a line to grab on to though.
