Not getting enough hours of flying in? How about going for more than 20 (easily) in a week? Orange Man here (Wade, the tall guy in the orange flight suit) and I’m heading back to Colombia in late July.
Bucaramanga, Colombia has some amazing flying. Typically thermic in the morning and a combination of ridge and thermic in the afternoon. The site is suitable for intermediate to advanced. Four hour flights in the afternoon are normally possible. Chicamocha Canyon (1 hour away) has thermals that will make you think Hari Krishna has reached down and is yanking your paraglider towards heaven.
I’m going to be working on my tandem hours for two months, but am considering playing tour guide to a group of twelve for one of the weeks (all I ask is you play front seat passenger for two tandem flights). I’ve figured that the cost per person could be as low as $1,000 for eight days, less than the published price of a round-trip ticket. I would arrange housing, transportation, a cook for two meals a day and flying fees. You’ll buy your discount airfare online and ante into the pot when you arrive for the balance.
Bucaramanga is a medium sized city, very safe, interesting sights and night life, and the people are very friendly. Please respond off-line by June 21st if you are interested and I’ll send more information.
