Monday after easter

Postby Kabir » Mon Apr 13, 2009 7:32 pm

I've been itching to fly for a while and since I did not get to go yesterday. So he first thing I did this morning was to check the WX.

No wind to 9k.....
SB Ballon looked good....
No wind out the window....
A bit warmer than Y'day.....

And a lot of haze.. mmmm..????

But to many things looked promising on paper so checked to see if the eagle van was making a move.

we figured later was better than earlier since it was so hazy and it proved to work out.

I wonder if it was working a bit earlier since the breeze"" picked up around 10ish

But anyways.
we got to alternator to find light cycles now and then.
Got ready and as soon as I finished my preflight a cycle came through so I took it.

the glide was alright on the way out but not much lift.
The landslide was working a bit lower than usual but I working alright.
I got high enough to make a move to the top of westbowl where i got to almost 4500.
Managed to maintain for a bit making it back around the 4400 and decided to make a move even though it did not seem very XC-able.

Got to cathedrral fine after an easy glide but the lift was not so good and it seemed (from looking at other pilots) that there was a mini inversion.
S not wanting to set myself on a death glide to the RR I tried to tank back up w/o much luck
Left cathedral with barely enough to make it just below the landslide and found the lift a bit disorganized.

But everyone was making it look easy out front so Zi bee lined for it.

I must have smeled bad or something because most people left shortly after I got there...

Jason and I stayed boating around and finally made it back to WB and to 4400

Then it shaded in pretty good and decided to call it a day.

It was a fun a relaxing flight of about an hr and a half.
Landed at the T and managed to almost wrap the pepper tree with my glider after kitting it too close.

It was fun to see that even on a shaded day you can still have some nice thermailing action

Cheers!
