XC/Thermal Clinic in Ojai starting Tomorrow!

I have a few seats left for the Thermal/XC clinic in Ojai starting Wednesday and going through Sunday. Cost for the 5 days is $550. If you can't make all 5 days you can come out for 1 or several days at a daily rate. We're meeting at the Church across from Nordhoff HS at 8AM Wednesday (Tomorrow) morning. If anyone who is already familiar with Chief's and XC/Thermal flying wants to come join us (at the usual gas charge), give me a call in the AM so I can save seats etc.

Boyah!! Despite crazy winds aloft and low cloudbase we got some sweet flying in Ojai today. The North winds were strong a few hundred feet above us at launch but the SW pushed it back and allowed us to enjoy some beautiful conditions halfway down the Chief spine. We're heading up again tomorrow at 10 (9 if you need to see the LZ) so get in touch! The truck is filling up fast!

Another awesome day in Ojai! Everyone got to ~6300 and managed a few introductory hops XC. A few made Bruce's and one, in a tandem with Brendan, made the HS.

I think we have Andy, Art, and Dean joining us Friday which fills the truck. Are there any others coming Friday that I forgot about? We might be able to do the Topa Squeeze if I blew it and overpacked the truck. Parking lot at 10 for those who are already on board.

We're full in the truck for Friday and Sat but if anyone else wants to fly Chief's call Ron Faoro. We're working on a plan to get folks up.

Another stellar day in Ojai! Everyone hit 7k and boated around as long as they liked. 2 students made Nordhoff HS, 1 tagged stooges, and the other two who we're doing their first few mountain flights boated around Chief's until permagrin set in. Andy made Summerland, Art and Ron seemed to be everywhere and Dave Bader went for the epic Topa scratch fest in front of Nordhoff but it didn't pan out.

I'm pretty sure we have a full truck again Saturday with Robb M, Bob P, and Andy D. If you guys can't make it let me know because there are about 6 people who want your seat..;P

6k again in Ojai today. It was a little chunky again after noon but everyone rocked it, boated around as long as they liked and generally had a good time. Art and Andy D made Fillmore while Milley tried West and got pummeled at Bruces. Good times had by all!

I think we have a full truck again Sunday but might have one spot available. I'll post as soon as I know. Randall and Chris Paul (**#$#@!$!! I know! Chris Paul!!) are joining us (9:30 AM meet time Sunday).

we delicately pranced up the mtn (with the nimble grace of an A-list ballerina) in ojs truck... Decent lift at launch. Art and I took the prevailing west out to fillmore. great lift along sp ridge so getting there low (me) wasn't a big problem. we got diced up and spat out near sp peak then went on glide. the W at the shopping center lz was 10-20. i got the 10 and art got the 20~. he was able to bar into the lz amid an assymetric. Subway was out of bread... can u believe that?

Last day of the clinic, and as usual everyone flew and had a good time. Aside from Robert Trueworthy, Dan Harrison, Doug Ritzinger, and Tye Simpson who were my clinic victims, we had Kelly S, Chris P, Randall and Chad. Arrived at 10:30 and Chad was the first off at 11. A bit scratchy early on with the low inversion but by 11:30 it was goin' OFF with a spectacular cloudbase at about 5200 running right down the spine. It made for some incredible scenery. Chris P made a play East but got skunked low. Chad made the HS and Randall followed but got pummeled at Bruces in a West. Thus concludes 5 days of Ojai flying. We flew every day with peaks to 7k and lows of 5200.

Wait!! You forgot the most important part - did OJ's truck chug today, or did it prance? Inquiring minds want to know!

Randall, Chad, and Chris Paul all went to Cheifs today; that's the most amazing part of your whole clinic. Chris - you need to come home more often! Another week in Ojai and you'd have Tom, Tom, and Casey out too!
