Wednesday Skyport?

Postby Dean S » Wed Dec 12, 2007 7:24 am

Looks like we've been blessed with another stellar flying day; at least on paper. Let's meet at 10:00 / Parma to see in the day lives up to expectations. Don't forget warm clothes, looks like it'll be cold upstairs again.
When in doubt...TOP OUT!

I finally couldn't take the pain anymore. Everyday I drive from work to school and watch everyone getting specked. It's finals week which means no class, so what does any decent flying junky do...obviously not study!! A BIG CONGRATES goes out to Pauline for her stellar performance at flying to Carp for the first time. She was the first to leave Thermal Factory with Andy close behind and myself on chase. Where was everyone else? I guess they've already got their fix from Monday. It was awesome seeing Andy and Pauline (husband and wife) flying the beautiful SB range together. How many of us guys can say our wife tops out a thermal faster then we can!! We all made it to the power lines then opted to fly out to Carp for lunch and smiles. Till next time.

Thanks SA for the Christmas present getting us all up to launch. We sure do appreciate it. The rates better not go up in 08' buddy :D

Nother great day!

Terrible launch from me. I set up too close to the far west side and one of my wingtips wasn't quite open. The inflation required me to run further west, and there was a liquorice bush in the way. I ended up with 30% deflation on the right, which rolled to the left side and then back to the right as I took off. Not brilliant.

Headed out to the Antenna Farm and climbed strong. Joined the gaggle over the Thermal Factory and as pilots ended up going their separate ways, Dean and I decided to head west.

Each point was working, but it was a struggle going that direction due to the NW push. Ended up over Painted Cave and struggling to find anything really gelling so pushed out to the T. About 300' over the T and following the 154 Hwy I caught a little bit of love. It took me about 1000' over the LZ. I decided to push east over the neighborhood. I worked all the points I could and eventually made it to 100' over Robins LZ. It was enough to hang out for the next thermal and finally get up and get even with the top of Cathedral. As I pushed east the lift got better. Having missed a couple days of work I opted for landing at Parma. Easier said than done. Lift everywhere over the neighborhood. Found some sink and cored it. Eventually the sky let go and Parma Chris greeted me.

Cool day. Great flying with everyone over launch.
