Postby Fast Eddy » Sat Sep 15, 2007 8:14 pm

OK

Mini is at VCMC in the I C U.. He has a Badly shattered and Broken L1 vert in his back from impact during a stalled landing approach into a field...

Doctors will be operating More than likely on Sunday the 16th to stabalize his injury... through his CHEST !~! He has Pieces TOUCHING his spinal cord that could paralize him if he moves wrong etc... He is Taped to a BACK BOARD tonight and will be untill SURGERY is COMPLETED and the injury is Stabalized etc...

Mike is in good spirits and is worried about all that has Happened... He sends out a WHOLE bunch of Thank Yous to all of those who helped him out today...

I will post more as I know etc...

I talked to Tammy this morning and she informed me that Mike has a shattered L1, fractured L2 and the Thorasic vert above L1 is also fractured. MRI at noon to figure out how to aproach the spine and surgery directly after.

Just talked to Mike and he says that the surgery will be late this afternoon. He is very medicated and thankfull of it. He wanted me to thank everyone for the help and support. Particularly Mark and Mr. Ed. He tells me that there is a chance this injury could paralize him and they are concerned that the spinal chord is injured. Tammy will keep us posted and they ask for our collective prayers.

OK

It is Late Monday PM or Early Tuesday Morning... MIKE has just got out of SURGERY and they say he can move his feet and Hopefully once the swelling goes down all will be well...

He has TWO rods in his back for support up and down... Two screws at the bottom of each rod and one at the top... He is in recovery at this time more than likely still...

It is shortly after midnight. SO here is hoping that all will be well...

Mike will be Laid up for aproximately 3 months the doctors said today. While things heal and grow back together. They did not say how they went into his back and spine. I will see tomorrow maybe when I get to see him again...

KEEP FIGHTING MIKE!~! This is EASY and I know your Little attitude can get you through this ALL!~!

So Tammy might need a bit of help getting things done around the house for his coming home... Can we get a few POSSIBLE volunteers to sign up here for possible CALL me and we will get theres to HELP do the Bed stuff etc???

I believe this is Mike's e-mail if anyone would like to send him a pick-me-up instead of posting on the board.

I would like to thank all of you for everything you have done to lift Mikes spirits.
As of last night We were able to get his temp. from 103.6 down to normal which intern made him fill much better, they were able to take him off of his IV, And best of all that dam catheter is out YAH!!! He sat up and had a bowel of oatmeal this mooring this was the first thing he has eaten since Saturday mooring and he even walked with the aid of a walker and me to the bathroom and back. Nothing happened but just that walk was enough that maybe by tomorrow he will be able to come home.
If you would like to come by to see him after he gets home fill free ( I will post tomorrow when he will be home for sure )
I have been printing and reading him the E-mail.NEW ADDRESS tamike2003@roadrunner.com thank you it really makes him feel much much better knowing that you all care.

Thank you Again and all my love to each and everyone of you,
Tammy

That's excellent news, for both of you.

Now Mike doesn't have to suffer through that oatmeal for breakfast - he can go back to his mug!

The hardware is coming out! On April 28th I'm gettin' this monkey off (out of) my back. Hopefully it is the source of the leg pain that has slowed the recovery process.

I spoke to Mike on wednesday. He said his leg pain seems to be gone since the hardware has been removed. He should be home today (thursday).

We all wish him a speedy recovery.
