Alternator 5/22

Kevin called me in the AM (thanks dude!) with tales of clouds forming in town
Went to look and lo and behold!
Clouds indeed!
And birds, bultures and the like going up in big gentle turns all over the place!
cloudbase seemed to be at 2800 or so

Honey..... can you take me to alternator pleaaaaasssseeee?
(Those of you who got a significant other know the drill.)

Stoped halfway up to launch to check it out.
At first i was a bit hesitant when i saw that the clouds seemed to have covered the whole place but then i noticed that the sun was shinning through here and there so got back on the car and kept on going.

Once there the cycles where all over the place. few SE some S lots of SW and even W to make it fun
At one point i was going to call it off because it turned OTB.
Looking at the clouds made it even more confussing at first.
The whole deal was moving paralel to the ridge, but then it would stop right before that ravine on the w side of westbowl (from takeoff)
then I noticed a bunch of little birds going up w/o really turnig
I asked myself
Would Andy go?

So I did

Had to abort the first takeoff
Reseted and off i went.

Not much right at launch then got enough sink to make me wonder if i was even going to make it across the last ridge before the landsilide but managed to hook something that got me to about 3800 or so.
Decvided to cash in my chips en beelined it for the top of westbowl.

The whole "glide" out was more of a "climbout" so came comfortably high over westbowl, a relieff since i still was expecting some wind, but NADA!

The whole ocean side of westbowl had clouds generating and going away so i just surfed the edge of it back and forth. E to W
Following out over the edge and then back towards westbowl as it surged

It was so fun and it felt awesome to be flying next to the clouds.

I wished that I had a camera and that i had a 3rd hand to take pictures with (there was no way i was letting go of the brakes!)

kept flying for 45 mins or so then got pulled to close to the whiteness and since my gps decided to die 5 secs after takeoff) decided to head out.
It would suck to get whited out, specially w/o it

Pulled a spiral to get away from the fluffy stuff (manouvers clinics rock!)
and headed out for the flats

the glide out still demanded attention but not enough that i did not get to enjoy the view of all them white happy clouds swirling and flowing all over me.

It was super fun today mostly because it felt like i was flying in a new place.
