Launched around 11:30 just behind Chris P. and Tom. Only managed to hit 11k straight off the launch with no sink and no turb. What a drag. Very little wind to play in and the thermals weren't weak. Puttered around between 9 and 11 for close to an hour before going OTB with only 11,860. There was a rough spot at about 10,500 but it wasnt worth canning it for.

Chris P offered (thanks chris!) to grab Tom's truck from the sandpile for retreive which freed us all for OTB action. I was the last to go OTB behind Tom P, John, and Bruce and had a great glide to the riverbed. Tom was long gone toward Frasier by the time i got out there but John and Bruce took a higher point than I and were able to work down the spine. I headed for the road and worked flatland thermals with drift to the east. We all ended up at the same spot on the road (except Tom who kicked serious butt but ill let him tell that story). Took a bit of a whack coming into the road when my wing got pitched over by a gust and swung me into the divider lines. Nice hole in my harness but only a small scratch on the elbow. Karmic dues again. Definitely a kickass day at the Pine. Classic thermals and for the most part, smoooooth.

Addendum

Jon, Bruce and I put down near Guillermo (sp?) peak on the road.

Steven, a visiting pilot from SF (camping at Pine Mtn) took a bad line and got drilled OTB. He's probably still walking out.

Cycles on launch were light and far between. 2-3mph wind OTB but it didnt interfere with front cycles. When we got back to launch around 4 it was blowing OTB hard enough to affect the flags on launch.
