Tried Pine again today. Arrived at launch around 10. Blowing even harder than it was on Sunday at 11AM. Martina measured 23mph on her wind meter. Canned it pretty early to make a try for the Chief sans-permit. Got to the campground and tried not to look too guilty when the rangers went by but they knew what we were up to. Back down to the USFS station for a permit and at that point I decided to can it for the day. Had enough chasing thermals. Christian, Martin, and Martina headed for Chief and launched 2:30ish. Martin took a flight that was only slightly better than a sledride and that was with a hot new comp wing. Christian drove and Martina didn't hit anything more than a few bumps on the way out. My little 1-2 would have sunk like a stone. I pulled retreive and we comisserated over the sorry state of the weather forecast. Our visitors are dying to do some real flying but we're not sure where to go aside from pine at 6am. Supposed to be a gnarly inversion for the forseeable future and Pine is the only place to get above it.
