Being recently unemployed, I took the opportunity to go flying today with Chris, Christian, Tom and Claude driving. We all survived the trip up to Chief's Peak (if you have ever ridden with Claude you know what I'm talking about!).

When we got to launch the cycles were coming in fairly strong and right through the gap so Chris and I suited up fairly quickly and Chris punched off first climbing fairly quickly to 6000+. I followed soon thereafter in a lull and caught the first thermal to the same altitude. What a ride!

I then decided I had enough altitude to make the jump to Nordhoff which I did with no problems. I came in over the first bump and caught a sweet thermal that wasn't very strong but gave me 50-100 up for enough to make it to the main ridge. I took about a 30% collapse over the ridge, played around for a short time and decided to go for the high school. I came in over the field across from the high school with plenty to spare and landed (slight trip due to long grass) and celebrated my first crossing!!

Chris got into some fairly strong sink and landed short of the high school. Christian was still boating around Nordhoff peak when I packed up. Tom landed at the big field on McNeil Rd.
