One of the benefits of not making it too far down range today is getting to post the events here in Brasil for the last couple of days.

Today was our forth day of flying. Earlier postings have been impossible due to Carnival. The city we are flying in might be likened to being what it might be like in Lompoc during Fiesta. For the past few days I did not know this was a town with people. Imagine coming to a city where aliens kidnapped the population then one day when you wake up redeposited them. Everyone here leaves leaving only the pilots to wander on the streets searching out the night life. Today, Wednesday, when we walked out onto the street to meander up to the meeting place to get onto the bus the town was alive. A real culture shock.

We arrived here late, 5 o'clock, on Saturday. Sunday we sat on the "Rock" called launch, seeing it get better each hour. However, we were under the gun because the national competition's window was going to open keeping us on launch until they were under way. It turned out to be a sled ride to the lz. A few of us went back up and took an evening ride in the glass off conditions.

Monday most of us decided to wait until the competition was off to have a later launch time. It proved to be good judgement call as we all had our first xc experience here in GV. Sharon Sweeney ended up waxing everyone from SB. She went 25+ miles.

Tues overdeveloped and today was better but nothing like Monday.

I don't want to steal the thunder from the rest of the group so I leave it as such.

More later as there is a long line to get on the net as this place has opened for the first time in 5 days.

Dan
