Tom,

Due to my limited knowledge, I know only one flying the site in the area. That is Jeane ridge -- just outside Jeane Nevada.

About eight miles or so past the Nevada border, take the Jeane exit and turn right toward the Gold Miner casino. Pass the casino and turn left at the first intersection. Follow this road for a couple of miles passing underneath the railroad track and then turn right on the road to the Southern Nevada Light Weight mine. This is paved (after a bit, very well oiled) and marked with an interesting sign involving a large metal coil and wind direction streamers. (North 35 degrees 51.306 minutes, west 15 degrees 15.356 minutes)

To reach the base of the ridge, continue on this road and turn right on a dirt road marked with a pipe and wind streamers (North 35 degrees 49.671 minutes, west 115 degrees 14.590 minutes) and then turn left on (I believe) the second opportunity to turn toward the ridge. This road will go to a parking area and you'll see flags and windsocks at the top of the ridge about 500 feet above you. You can hike or kite up.

To reach the top of the ridge (I would recommend this only for four-wheel-drive vehicles) rather than turn as above, continue on the paved road toward the mine. Cross over a cattleguard and go to the first right (dirt road) after the guard -- marked with an orange highway cone (North 35 degrees 49.472 minutes, west 115 degrees 12.610 minutes). There is a fork in this dirt road leading to two different launch sites on the top of the ridge. They are only a couple hundred yards apart and I'm not sure it makes much difference which one you use -- depending upon wind conditions.
