Launched from Chiefs at 1 PM today, right after Chris and John K. Christian handling the retrieve. Cycles were blowing in steadily from the south at around 10 to 15 mph. Smooth and consistent, though, and we all got off the hill easily.

Chris found scant lift and headed for Bocalli's. John and I fared better and worked decent lift near the upper ridge and up to the peak. The thermals seemed to peter out around six grand, and so did the battery on my vario, so I took my altitude and headed for Stooges. Smooth as glass on the glide. Nothing to work over Stooges, so I made for Nordhoff and found little until the second bowl. Worked some light lift near the terrain and gained about 300, but I was finding it tough without a vario.

I headed for the Bowling Alley and had a very interesting landing, getting bounced around on approach by thermals and rotor while cruising 20mph over the ground, but managed to turn into the wind at the last second and had a perfect touch-down.

John made it to the high school, working ridge lift all the way. Not a classic day, but fun nonetheless.
