Looking at the weekend Thursday Night.

There is potential for a good Santa Anna from Ojai. There are a couple of inversion layers, one real low and another up about 8K, but the lapse rate on paper for Ojai is strong (for Friday, 33 degrees F spread from the surface to 6K based on the forecasted high and the forecasted 6K temp). We have some wind, but Ojai has a pretty good history of blocking the wind, especially once it swings more out of the east. No guarantees, but I’ll ante up.

The Owens is looking a bit iffy. The wind is forecasted to back down some on Saturday, but there is potential for it to be blowing stiff from the north. Unless you’re inclined to engage in backup activities, I’d recommend passing until there is less wind in the forecast. I don’t have much experience with the Owens this time of year, so I may be speaking out of turn. Perhaps Chad could give us his opinion.

It’s looking like both Saturday and Sunday could be Stellar locally. I only get one day, so I’ll wait till the last minute to decide. I’m probably leaning toward Saturday due to other scheduling concerns, but Sunday might be better. I’ll post when I know when and where I’m going.
