After Brendan launched 4th (in a down cycle, 15-18mph), John was metering 25+ mph sustained. That left 9 pilots stuck, waiting for a lull. About 30 min. later, it let up, & I managed to get off the hill. The clouds developed more directly over launch, & within minutes, I climbed to 8100'. The air above 6k was butter smooth. What a view! As the lift weakened, I pointed towards Nordhoff & went on glide. 30-35mph ground speed/100fpm sink put me over the city at 6k+. By now, most of remaining pilots had launched. I flew over Nordhoff HS & surrounding areas for what seemed like 10 min. before landing on the baseball field. Casey & Kristi were soon to follow. John launched late, missed the great lift, (but not the nasty turb. at the lower alt.) & still scratched his way to NHS. Probably the flight of the day. "I should have left him when he was locking the gate".
