Gotz ta luv Kagel...

(Please pardon my poetic/prose approach to a report, but thats how I enjoyed the sky today...)

It was great: little foot launched traffic(low helicopter and Boeing 727 were some highlights noted to me by 'Pisst-achio'), clear sky to see out to Catalina! Though no cummies, it was warm, and was really terrific to soar such a straight-forward site(in my shorts no less). It was exactly how I remember flying it LAST SUMMER! Having little stress, and being an intermediate pilot as opposed to my mountain flight #4 last year I had a splendid time tooling around the main spine, then back up to launch--considered top landing, but launching had been rough(see NOTE below) and the *best* landing spot would have been the launch itself. I felt so good that I visited "Trash Mt." for a spell, but time was waning and still had to retrieve my ol' Toyota 4Runner now I'm naming 'Buster' (due to the fact it didnt want to start at the LZ and we had to bump start it) so I leaned back in my sky-based EZ chair, put my legs out and simply glided to the LZ.

NOTE: The wind was pulsing on the launch from 7 knts to 15knts. We were choosing the lulls to launch in, but that resulted in being sent backward and down to the ground after a short brief pickup. The pilot before me aborted 3 times from this sequence. It happened to me as I launched too, but even as I was skimming the ground with the bottom of my harness--sideways--my wing was still flying, so I chose to fly away. Once in the air I was SMACKED around directly in front so I weight shifted and steered left to gather my bearings soaring across the hang glider launch.

Later when I returned to consider top-landing, I experienced the air being the same in the vicinity of the PG launch. *I think* there is turbulence coming from the growing bushes in front. The launch being more affected due to its venturi locale?

NOTE #2: Hmmm. The HG launch was recommended to me by a local via email the other day due to the fact they have removed the wood. Hmm. "Just for giggles!" I launched from the HG launch last February... I did like it better.

--Giggles =D
