We called off the Marshall trip at 12:30. By comparing the Crestline wind data from today at 12 pm with yesterday at the same time, we expected that the afternoon wind will be even stronger than yesterday which was almost blown out for paragliding. It turned out to be a good call. It reached 18 with gusts above 25 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

We went to Bates instead. It was good and lightly soarable from at least 5 pm until almost sunset. The wind there was not strong (like last Sunday for example). The tricky part was launching in the relatively light and cross wind conditions. However, once airborne it was soarable.

I fumbled around launch for a while trying to get airborne and was getting frustrated. Then SD showed up on his bike ! He helped me launch and I had a 20-25 minute flight with a beach landing when the lift died suddenly. However, I think it was still soarable after that. Randall had 3 flights. Two from the top and one from the lower launch (near the gazebo).

It was nice to see Tom, Pam and Sam ! Thanks for the ride back up to get our cars.
