Yes. without a doubt!!! in fact, if it was up to me... i would make a full blown SIV a part of the P2 certification process. The course has let me flown and taste the other 75% of the envelope. the maneuvers allow you to build confidence in yourself and the wing. i believe it has helped not to over-react when things go wrong and also to anticipate what the wing will do.

just to give you an example... my first full stall attempt was text book stuff. on my 2nd one... i released asymmetically and had a big cravatte... 40% or so. the wing entered a fast spiral and my lines started twisting fast. counter-weight shifting did not seem to help. when it does... you can try playing with brakes... pull really big ears or just pull the loose lines on the cravatted side.

i immediatly burried both hands down and re-stalled the wing and came out clean. it all happened very fast and i actually resolved the situation before Jocky got on the radio. this singular experience has made the course worth while for me.

in general, i have learned that if actually go with the wing and don't resist what is happening... the wing will always look after you. when you get a new wing... one of the best things you can do is go on an a SIV to learn your wing. also... a SIV every year will keep you current and more relaxed when things get out of hand. i will be happy to share more with you when i am back in Ojai in July.
