We let Ron F wind dummy for us. The cycles had slowed down and you could see it by the way Ron was fighting to stay up. I was in no rush and by the time everyone started gaining some good altitude I readied myself to launch. The first time I pulled my wing up the cycle was reasonable good. But as soon as I turned around the cycle abruptly stopped so I brought it down to wait again. Finally after a few minutes it came on again although a little less strong and I launched. The air was punchy as Topa can be and I decided to follow Ron over to the west, leaving the middle bump with 5200. I think the general consensus was the same and the whole gaggle was on the way to Nordhoff HS. Bob with the Carbon was at the same altitude as I and I was glad to see my glide and trim speed was very close to my Epsilon. I got to 3 stooges and worked some weak lift and Bob continued off where Ron had marked the lift and was going up. I left and could not connect on the same source. Bob was able to come in higher at Nordhoff than I. He was able to take advantage of the lift and I was left scratching for the crumbs. I figured 8 to work the lift but was slowly loosing ground. The wind from the south was killing our glide so I decided to find a good place to land so I did not have to walk. On the way out there was some lift on the knolls out front and I worked it for another 600-700 feet. The head wind was picking up and my speed was below 10 a couple of times. I jumped on 3/4's speed bar and pushed out over the worst of the wind but I did not have the glide to make it all the way to NHS and landed about .75 miles from there.
