Looking at the weather for Sunday on Saturday night.

The wind today was a bit much. Gusting near 40 on the Oxnard Plain, and topping a hundred at 30 grand. Should back off some for Sunday as the high moves overhead, but they're still calling for a hundred up high in the afternoon. With a pronounced vertical gradient and a 30 + degree temp spread from the deck to 6 grand, the vertical mixing should pull some wind down. With the high still offshore, the forecast is for the direction to show some west. The west can be good and bad. It’s nice to have the tail wind, but we don’t block a west as well as a north.

Keep your altitude to stay above the lower turb across the spines. Stay with zero sink and don’t get too racy. Try to get through Ojai before it OD’s. The Santa Clara Valley should be windy, but not as OD’ed as Ojai, and it’s open enough to handle a landing backing up. Expecting a narrow window from 10 till noonish for us slowpokes.

Tony and John are pushing for Ballard about 8 (Tony was reportedly warming up Saturday night by exercising his elbow). I’ll probably get the balloon data before heading out the door.
