On paper the conditions looked dismal, poor lapse rate and warm at alt. Debby was saying N and NNE 8 to 19. We (Bob H, Tom B, Dan K and myself) got to launch around 1245, when a couple of HGs were making things look better than expected. Jeff D was there with his PG and launched ahead of Bob and I. Jeff and Bob got up nicely and transitioned to the R&R. I got in the air just below BH, but couldn't make my new glider turn like my Arcus so I left for the RH before getting too low. I came in on the ridge 501 ft below the RH and managed to work some light thermals (200 to 400 fpm) up to about 2250. From there I transitioned to the AF, but came in below it and flushed down the canyon. I was surprised that I made the glide to Parma into the wind. Tom B and Dan K launcher next. Dan got a great glide to the ridge between the RH and TF, and managed to get up nicely aver the AF for the flight de jour. DK and TB landed at Parma, BH went to Scofield Park for spot landing practice.
