They ought to call it the "crawl" up. Seven of us made the grueling hike up (1,000 feet or so) the face of the ridge behind the nut house (incl. SD, Dr. Ron, Kristy, Brendan, Benson, Art and me). The launch is narrow and with swirling winds, challenging. All seven launched successfully. Art was the wind dummy and, like Brendan (I think), Kristy and me, a first-timer.   He made a valiant effort to stay aloft but eventually sunk out and landed on Hwy 33. Kristy launched next, skied out and had a great hour long flight. Ron, an old hand at this site, tried to force a turn into the hill and stalled out, "landing" in the chaparral. He returned to fly again, however, and with SD, Kristy and Brendan, had a great flight getting to 4,900 feet. SD landed in El Carro Park, down the street from his house, Benson and Kristy on Hwy 33 by the nut house, me just short of the stop sign north of the high school and Brendan and Ron on the football field at Nordhoff. Strong thermals and an east wind at elevation made this a fun and challenging day. Me, I'm in the hot tub where I plan to stay for the rest of the weekend, unless, of course, the winds back off and we can fly on Sunday.

Great party at Tom and Jaana's last night. Thanks for opening your home and lighting your barbeque and thanks to Ron for the Heradura. It was a reflection of the rigors of the day that we didn't have the strength to kill it. Fortunately, there's still some left for next time.

Clarification: Art had launched from the Nut House on at least one previous occasion. SD
