the bates report; saturday.

same game as yesterday, but the wind showed up straight in at @12. flew my light rig down to the hot dog field about 300 over the whole way in beautifully unusual bouyancy. it was getting stronger, so i topped bigeared to get in a smaller pg. on the front side of a strongish SW w/ a whitecap back i figured i might make Vta. gathered 4 or 5 over the main and crossed the freeway. scenic flying past la conchita, but -*switch*- the wind ebbed. landed mussel shoals @ the pier. (Thanks to Cabot for the return.) other pilots sank to the beach at the same time my lift fizzled and thats kindof how it was at bates today; pulse-y. i think Otis gets the altitude award - cruising up @ 600 over for quite awhile. never strong enough to speedfly- then it blocked. hopefully, the wind crashed thru for more opportunity later in the day- if anyone stayed around that long...

You left at the right time Andy, it never came back on.
