Pine this Saturday or Sunday

Postby dteal » Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:30 pm

Lot's of cu's in the back range all week. Tomorrow may be a switch day that will allow us to get into Lockwood Valley and maybe beyond. Any opinions? Any HG capable vehicles going?

Irrelevant One Time Event

Postby Dirtfoot » Fri Oct 01, 2010 8:24 pm

As underutilized as it is, we will have an Irrelevant One Time Event (IOTE) at Pine this Sunday. I know this sounds wonderful to everybody, and I'm hoping we'll get all the dusty old pilots out of the peanut gallary and into a truck with a driver who know's his st*ff. If we're on launch by 10:30 we'll make it to left field. I'm ready to press the record button, and I've got $5 that says I press it before NME Rider or Lew Riffle (I'm giving it to Ron M to be the judge).

Come on out, all you big talkers! Share your knowledge of dessert and when and where and how to make it! If you've never been to Pine before, this is the time to go 'cause we're dishing out the altitude all summer. There will be tonic for our times and great flights for all who launch and land safely. With any luck, Dizzy will come out and get pictures of us as we arrive in Bishop.

If you're still uncertain, I've been there when a trash-talking local (my back yard is bigger than your back yard) launched way late in the day and still flew 30 miles and spent 45 minutes getting down from 14k. And he did it with a no-shit-for-real broken arm (no cast). Grab your stuff and don't worry about what time you're getting home -you'll set many of your personal bests on Sunday! There are no greener pastures for real pilots, and I'm ready to kick in another $5 towards cold beers for everyone who fly's further than Tony.

Lspeed5 - I live in Lompoc. We could carpool... still don't have the green light to go Sunday yet, but we should definately meet up sometime. I fly Pine, and local mountains often. Feel free to give me a call.

Ok... I have a green light to go! I'm willing to use my truck for the trip. I have seatbelts for 6 people. No driver... someone else will have to arrange for that as I am going to be at a wedding all afternoon and evening today. I will be out of the loop as far as contact goes. Please feel free to text me at 805-451-5697 after 3pm and I'll respond as the wedding progresses.

Lspeed5... feel free to carpool with me. Can you make it to Lompoc in the AM if we are going?

Let's get it on!!! Keep the post active as it will be my way of seeing if others are going to be heading out there. Anyone else interested in heading to Pine from SB tomorrow???

:D

James - sound like we have a driver. We could meet at Patagonia in Ventura or Nordhoff HS - you pick.

I am a paraglider...will any of you HG's have room for a bag and a pilot in your vehicles? I am familiar with NHS but not Patagonia...also what will the meet time be 9: 30? My cell 8057944576. I will also keep checking this post for a response.
Thanks

I am not for sure I can get out, but am curious as to any left over seats for a bag (PG) and a body (me) at the Patagonia store meet place and final time. Text or voice here: 805.832.3088

I would love to get out for a "big day" at Pine with the usual suspects and any new ones...

Jeff,
If you can meet at my house between 7 - 7:30 in Lompoc, that would be great. 1137 Bellflower Lane. I will be up around 6:30, so you can call me at 735-8530 if you want. Looking forward to meeting you.

As for spots in my truck. I have Dave Teal, Jeff (driver), Marty (not confirmed), Aaron Luckett (not confirmed), Jonathan Dietch and friend (not confirmed), Double D (not confirmed). I can fit a number of people in the back of my truck if needed...

Let's all touch base in the morning. I need the non-confirmed to confirm in order to have a "seat" spot in the truck. Anyone that wants to go, but doesn't confirm asap will be subject to order of seats available in the truck.

I need to be fair.....
