Soboba Fly-In

Postby TrevorB » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:27 pm

I don't have all the details, but a fly in is slated for Soboba on Saturday, Sept 18th.

For those of you who don't know, the site is a bit of a success story for local flying activist groups; the Soboba Soaring Group recently purchased the land and have developed it into quite a destination.

The website can be found at groups.yahoo.com/group/sobobasoaring/ and via plenty of YouTube or Vimeo searches.

On a side note, the site holds a special place in my heart- it's where I learned to fly on a WillsWing 123 waaaaay back when. Back when we had shotguns pulled on us by the native American locals when we were poaching magic air on (rather above) their reservation land.

When details become available, I'll try to post.

Anyone interested, let me know. My dad still lives there and we might be able to arrange somewhere to slumber besides the archaic camping they have available onsite.

And...

Saturday Morning around 10 AM before the paraglider pilots take to the air Chuck
Ross will be landing his 2 seat Ultra Lite for passenger flights over Soboba.
This is the closest thing to paragliding. Two of my family members are schedule
to fly. The cost has not yet been determine but will be kept low as possible.
People that are not physical able to enjoy foot launch flights will be able to
see our sport as we see it from the air. Purchase a ride for a friend or family
member. Soboba Soaring will get a part of the proceeds.

I can have drivers available if Hang Glider pilots wish to launch from the top
and have there vehicle driven down. Let me know.

We will have shade and cold water on launch.

Overnight parking available for RVs.

Bon Fire and Music after the flights.
