I wasn't checking until last night. Looks like a great day for Plowshare. No radios charged, no phone calls made. Whoops.

Yard work is never done.
What site do you get the Plowshare forecast from?

Dave, I check Branch Mountain the day before and see when it switched, the four day temperature forecast and trend, vandenburg lapse rate. Then I see if there are any other rediculously optimistic people with visions of grandeur who want to chase it all day and if we can get the whole looney bin togethor it's on!! Then one final peak at the winds before I leave the house...

Tigger, Taggart, Ramey, Dave Teal, Eddie, Kathleen and myself, all headed up the hill. Cycles were strong and consistent at launch, with lift everywhere. Easy to get up, but no one got above 8300 or so. We all went over the back after a while, and everyone searched in slightly different areas, hanging for a while but eventually all landing at dry canyon. There were lennys all over lockwood valley and they seemed no higher then 10k or so. i think the wind scrubbed out all the lift. then we went to shiedeck bar which is always a good time! fun, pleasant, day in the backcountry!

It was a fun day. I launched last (gotta wait for maximum heating) and fooled around slightly over launch for about 15 minutes. Finally got to 8600 and went OTB. Never been over the back before so I just heading in the same direction that I saw Aaron go. I then saw where Ramey had landed, so while keeping that in my sites, I headed further up Lockwood Valley Rd. I knew I'd have a headwind coming back, so I stopped far enough up the foothills that I felt I could still make the LZ. Got a nice one up to 7600 and could then see Lockwood Valley over the ridge. Way cool!!! Headed back to land and then discovered that my harness wouldn't unzip. Had to catch some lift (it was everywhere) to break the velcro loose. Came in on final directly into the wind, thanks to Kathleen holding up two large wind flags, and got tossed up and down, left and right, before finally touching down nicely. That LZ was popping off all sorts of crap!!. The stop at Scheideck for some brew was icing on the cake! Thanks to Aaron from providing the vehicle, Eddy for driving, and Kathleen for windflags in the LZ.
