9 AM to 6 PM
The SHGA cordially invites all interested pilots, neighbors, friends and family for a day of flight, fun, and food. Join us at Sylmar Flight Park and celebrate the coming of spring and the return of great flying conditions. Activities for the day will include:
Hang Gliding Competition
Kids Activities
BBQ
Competition Awards
Spring Air Hang Gliding Competition
There will be competitions in three classes:
1. Fun – Single surface gliders & Paragliders
2. Sport – Kingposted Hang Gliders & Paragliders
3. Open – Any glider/pilot combination (rigid gliders will be handicapped)
Plus: Given sufficient interest a Bombdrop/Bullseye contest
Competition / Events Schedule
9:30 AM – 11 AM . . Pilot Check-in / GPS registration/prep
10:45 AM . . Pilot’s Meeting for all competitors
12:00 PM . . Launch window opens for All Classes
1:00 PM . . Start window opens for Sport Class / Fun Class
1:30 PM . . Start window opens for Open Class
4:00 PM . . BBQ Starts!
5:30 PM . . Awards
Notes:
• Final competition details and launch window times will be announced 1 week prior to the Festival on the SHGA website (www.shga.com)
• Maps, parking and other details will also be posted on the SHGA website
• Although we have a lot of seating, we suggest that you bring your own lawn chair along with a sunshade or hat and plenty of sunscreen.
• Directions to SHGA Flight Park
Sylmar Flight Park is located at 12600 Gridley Street, Sylmar, California, approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The Park can be reached by major freeways and is open daily from 8 a.m. until dusk.
From the 210 Freeway - Eastbound
Exit at Hubbard Street, turn left.
Turn right on Simshaw Avenue.
Turn left on Gridley Street.
The LZ parking lot is at the end of Gridley on the right.
From the 210 Freeway - Westbound
Exit at Hubbard Street, turn right.
Turn right on Simshaw Avenue.
Turn left on Gridley Street.
The LZ parking lot is at the end of Gridley on the right.
