Mat 2nd Bike ride Details

Its that time of Year!
Saturday, May 2

Meet at Parma at 10:30am to get lift up to the start point- or ride up.

Start at the intersection of Gibraltar and Camino Cielo, go east along the ridge to Romero Saddle, then down the dirt road to the Santa Ynez River, then down river to the campgrounds just beyond the Pendola ranger station.
Camping will be reserved for us there for Saturday night,

For those who haven’t had enough, and are into checking out the incredible spring growth within the Zaca fire area along Camuesa road, Sunday’s ride will continue down river to the Paradise Store for beer and a lift back to SB.
Note; that even with shortening Sundays ride to end at the upper Oso campground or deviating to the trail on the south side of the river, it will be a lot more difficult then the Saturdays’ ride.
This year’s day one ride will be easy; it’s a few hours on a 2w drive dirt road with a net elevation drop of almost 3,000 ft and a few very short climbs.
But, if you want something more intense you can easily add more to it by riding up Gibraltar to the starting point and or continuing on the next day with those riding down river.
Support vehicles will provide a lift to the starting spot or anywhere else along the route to the campgrounds for you, your bike, firewood and camping gear.
There will likely be logistics for getting back on Saturday if you’re not camping or on Sunday morning from camp as well as pick up from the paradise area on Sunday afternoon.

With the ride we had two years ago to this campground, we stuffed 17 riders with bikes into and on the Eagle van for the start at Pine Mtn Rd / hwy 33 and a bunch of people came in vehicles to pendola just for the camp out and hot springs fun on Saturday night.
Also, there is a nice little LZ within walking distance of the camp that one can glide* to from the ridge behind Montecito peak - launchable in a north or south wind.

If you’re interested in any part of this spring time tradition, Please rsvp to John G at 682-3483 or Throgrog@aol.com so support needs can get ironed out.
