At the SBSA meeting last week, it was decided that on Saturday, August 18th, we would meet to check out our newest property acquisition as well as talk about our future LZ options in the area, perhaps do a little brush clearing, fly in to OUR LZ (conditions permitting), and have an inaugeration party to celebrate the day! This is an excellent opportunity for pilots to learn through firsthand experience all about our new west end LZ’s (e.g., where to land and where not to land, the best and easiest routes out to vehicles, where to park and where not to park, best approaches in various wind conditions/directions, etc.).

This will be a great time to participate with YOUR club members in making our new LZ’s, great spots for new/old/visiting pilots to land and enjoy our beautiful flying site. Afterwards, we’ll have an afternoon "shindig" to inaugurate our new LZ’s!! Please tell other members, or potential members, about this day. If you have any brush clearing tools, please feel free to bring them along with your positive attitude and willingness to help out.

More details to come... so mark your calender!!

Alright, alright... beat me to the punch. :-)

Our LZ location is..... drum roll please....

9AM at Via Gaitero next to the 154.
Here is a link to the map.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... =cent&om=1

Directions:
Head up 154 and exit Cathedral Oaks/Foothill Rd.
Turn left and head under freeway.
Turn right on Via Chaparral
Head up the hill and turn right on Salvar Rd.
Cross the 154 to Via Gaitero and turn left.
Meet us at the end of the street.

Bring clothes that you wouldn't mind tromping around the LZ in and look forward to an educational time checking out this LZ, as well as our other new LZ near Cieneguitas on Cocopah Rd. With a little bit of work, we can make these new LZ's an incredibly inviting place to land in SB.

See you there!

One more thing...

This event is going to include BOTH the new property purchased by the club on Via Gaitero, and also the new LZ nearby (paraglider friendly and newbie HG pilot friendly) on Cocopah RD, so ALL types of pilots are invited to this event to learn about the in's and out's of these areas.
