Ok everyone.... Lets get ready to have another campout at the exclusive... Big Air... good times.... Pine Mountain campgound/launch! If you haven't been there before, now is your time to have a great time with the club, and beat those personal bests you have been looking to achieve.

July 27, 28, and 29th plan on camping out and flying at Pine Mountain. The weather should be great, and the flying even better. More details to come as we get closer to the event.

Well... campout is still happening, but I'm keeping an eye out on the Zaca fire which could pose a threat to that area in the next week or so.

The latest fire info shows Pine to be open:

The fire continues to actively burn in steep, rocky and broken terrain.
The fire continues under a unified command with Santa Barbara County Fire and the U.S. Forest Service.

Figueroa Recreational Area Campgrounds closed (as of 7/6/2007), which includes portions of San Rafael Wilderness. Roads are closed into these areas. The Los Padres National Forest Closures have been expanded and now encompass the entire San Rafael Wilderness and adjacent national forest land roughly from Highway 166 on the north to Buckhorn Road area on the south. The 382,000-acre area will be closed until further notice.

Estimated containment dates are difficult to establish at this time because of the establishment of the fire into the Wilderness.

Ok, so let's hope the fire closure doesn't get any bigger in the next few days... here's an update tho... there are NO fires allowed in the los padres at this time. Not even in established fire pits at campgrounds, also no charcol fires are allowed. You can use gas grills such as colmans, etc and lanterns and such, but open flames is a big no no right now... yes this sucks, but we'll make the best of it.

So it sounds like we're now cooking with gas! bring lights. we are going to have a generator up there this weekend, so electrical type stuff will be handy to have if we can't have fires... anyone got some space heaters to bring?? lol

anyways... we're still heading up and hoping for the best. I hope to see ya'll up there too!!

Pine is ON!!! Several people are heading up there today (Friday) and the rest are heading up tonight or tomorrow morning. Don't miss out! Good times will be had by all!
