We had a great turn out Saturday morning, eight pilots with all kinds of apparatus met at the high school, loaded into two trucks, and went for a drive. We spent a bit of time getting all that equipment through the manzanita but once on location we went to work. I apologize about the blurriness in parts of the photo’s, there must be something wrong with MM’s camera.

Rhonda’s chastity belt was bigger, heavier, and tougher to move than expected, but once in place looks like it should last a good long time

Everything was going great, with very little fighting in the sandbox (the cookies helped), until it was time to put Rhonda to work. She’s always been a bit finicky to get started, but would run fine once she got going. Not this time. Things got so desperate, I even saw someone reading the manual!

By the time we left, we had a good news/bad news/good news situation: the good news is Rhonda is in place, running on sunshine, providing weather updates every three minutes (see link under observations on weather page). The bad news is the anemometer failed, and during the troubleshooting process the barometric pressure was turned off. The good news is a replacement wind meter is on order and we should be able to finish the installation next weekend. Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Looks like a quality installation. Sorry I couldn't be there or assist this project in any way. I've been very busy with my stamp collection.

Should we have someone from the Ojai area go up and remove the brains from Rhonda until the fire danger is over? Just a thought... I would hate to see her get injured... :-(

Isn't that just like her?? You put here way out in the boondocks, miles from anyone and anything, and she still manages to get in the way of trouble!

I don't think she's in the path of danger right now; however, if the fire continues east they may block the 33 and then we can't get to her.

I'll try to get up there this weekend to bring her home.

From the fire maps, it looks like all flights from Chiefs or Pine should head East...
