Visiting

Postby bb_secretary » Thu Jul 05, 2012 1:11 am

The official visiting policy for the hospital's critical care unit as noted on the hospitals web page at https://california.providence.org/holy-cross/Pages/support-visiting-hours.aspx and also noted below (because the link is sometimes slow) is family only and a maximum of 2 visitors at a time.

I've seen him twice (Sunday 7/1 and Wednesday 7/4). I'm not a family member, but was with a family member. Since Tony will be in the ICU for a while, and his family is limited and doesn't live in LA, it might be in Tony's best interest for us to expand the definition of "family".

If you do visit, please do not stay long (I was only in his room 5 or 10 minutes on each visit) and definitely don't go if you have a cold or flu. There is a reason they want to limit visitors. People are an infection and transmittal risk for the critical patients, whose immunity is stressed. So don't plan on hanging out or socializing in his room.

It is my perception that visitors will be welcome after he regains consciousness, but again, please avoid staying too long and taxing his strength. If you do intend to visit, or have visited him, it might be worthwhile to note so with a reply to this thread or a new topic so we can spread out the visits over time. It would also be helpful to get more frequent feedback than once a week, so if you see him your perception would be appreciated.

His sister Nancy is planning to come up from San Diego next week after his pelvic surgery because it is a big event. Alexandra, and Ryan will likely visit a couple times a week, but they live an hour away in light traffic.

Visiting Status Update

Postby bb_secretary » Sun Sep 02, 2012 5:22 pm

As noted previously, the CaringBridge web site is the medium for current information regarding Tony's ongoing recovery.

Tony is now accepting any and all visitors so if you have an opportunity to stop by please do. They estimate he will be at the Glenwood Care Center in Oxnard for another month prior to returning home.
