Just got word today that Ben Haug had a bicycle accident on Sunday near Tahoe. He was doing his last downhill run of the day with a friend. While getting some air time off a small bump he ended up going over the handlebars. He cracked his helmet pretty good, he was knocked out, so they airlifted him to Reno. His head checked out, but his back didn't. He has compressed his T7,T9, and T12. He's been feeling better and has been up and walking around with the aid of a walker. He won't need surgery. He should be released in a couple days.

Heal fast Ben, we're all rooting for you.

Bo

Hey Amigos,

Thanks for all the support and encouragement. I'm back home now and all in all things are really good.

Ashley and I took a vacation and we decided to drive up to Tahoe for some camping and mountain biking. We meet up with some friends of ours at Northstar on Sunday and started a fun day by taking the lifts up the mountain and riding our bikes down. At the end of the day the girls were tired and rode down to the cars while Stuart and I decided to take one more run. I don't really remember the accident but I'm pretty sure I was trying to see how a bicycle flew compared to a paraglider. For the record, even with plenty of speed, my bike didn't have quite the flair authority I needed. I think I went over the handlebars and I kissed the ground with the back of my head and back. Next thing I know I'm getting airlifted by helicopter to the Reno Hospital. They found that I have mild compression fractures on my anterior T7, T9 & T12. No surgery needed, I just have to wear a back brace for 3 stinkin months. If anybody would like to help out I have set up a donation fund at http://www.IneedAnewbike.com JK  it's actually perfectly fine.

I was released from the hospital on Wednesday and Ash drove us home. I'm getting around just fine and I don't have that much pain.

See you all in the air soon,
Ben
