Alternator to???? 5/31

I was not expecting much from the day today and made plans to go get my truck from alternator.
As a good scout i took my gear my gear along for the ride (in case it looked tasty).
Half way there I could see 2 Pgs on the front of W bowl
With clouds all around them
It was Dave and ????
Once at launch I still debated whether to launch or not
Corey reminded me that this last days could be the last flyable days for a while and that I should go.
I dont like to argue with her, so I set up and waited for a cycle (aint it funny how once you are ready to go the cycles die and the clouds vanish?)
Waited a bit more and took a lightish cycle.
There where still some clouds forming, but they looked a bit anorexic compared to the ones we saw when we fist got there.
I played a bit near launch, got to 4k then drifted around finding the lift a bit unorganized but pretty consistent.
There wasnt much wind so i was wondering if i could make a play somewhere.
CB was nit very high and the day seemed to be calming down a bit.
I could see 3 hanghies over by skyport having a good.
I decided to just hang out and wait for Corey to eat lunch before I headed out to land.
After all, I rather wait in the air than on the ground
All of a sudden clouds popped all along the range.
I did not even think about it, I knew this was it!
I took my chance after topping out (4200), got on speed and glided to Cathedral.
There it was still going off, so i made some turns, got back to CB and boosted to the RR
I so wished i had taken some pictures here.
It was just beautiful!
It was cool to know i was at CB and still close to the terrain
By now the clouds where thinning out.
Got to the RR spine and scratched for a bit untill I had enough to get to skyport comfortably.
There I found limited amounts of Love so went to try my luck at the T factory.
Once there I got a nice thermal that got me to 3200 that had me wondering if i had a shot at the beach.
It was such a buoyant day that i felt sure that i could cut a couple feet from my standard min altitude and still make it comfortably.
But i still had to get high over the antennas.
I had to wait for a bit and was getting impatient.
But I remembered Marty's words of wisdom.
"Be patient and get as high as you can"
I noticed a flag in one of the houses that would get alive when the thermals would release.
So I started using it as an advance warning and as a gauge of the Thermals strength.
It would also point to the release.
It was pretty neat to notice that
Eventually i had enough altitude and headed out
I was super stoked and called it on the radio.
Of course, I hit some good sink right after.
Dang! Parma? Noooooooo!
I weight-shifted to the right trying to find a better line and was rewarded with enough of a bubble to stay on course.
Got on speed and had a 11to 1 GR all the way to La Playa!
It was such a beautiful day!
I so dig landing at the beach and peeling off all the layers and seeing people's looks and then just being barefoot while you pack knowing that your ride is on the way.
Are we stoked or what!
Thanks Dave for keeping tabs on me!
If anyone is going up to alternator tomorrow, please let us know,
I still need to get the truck....
Who knows, there might be some tasty ones out there!!!!
