NorCal PG pilots @ Pine over Labour Day weekend

Hello,

A group of experienced pilots from the Bay Area are thinking of taking a trip down to Pine over the Labour Day weekend. Most of us have flown Pine once before, exactly a year ago, during an evening glass-off, which was really pleasant. Our goal for this weekend would be to go XC, and we've never done so at Pine. Are there any local pilots who are planning to be there that weekend, who might be able to give us some XC tips based on the forecast, and local knowledge, and may be able help out with with retrieves?

Thanks,
Evan

The updates for Saturday at least aren't looking very promising.

Ya - still on the fence about whether we'll make the trip down. Saturday's looking decent at our local sites, and we also considering heading up to Tahoe for Sun / Mon. I'll post here & get in touch if it's looking likely that we will make the trip down there.

Someone else can chime in, but I think you should go with your second option.

Sunday looks nicely soarable but not high enough to reach Lockwood Valley or the beach. Good for site flying and landing in Dry Canyon. Not worth for for a long driving trip.

I will be in Owens, hopefully flying Walt's on Sunday if weather forecast holds.

"Nicely soarable" with some laps around the fishbowl sounds good to me.

I'm seeing the same 8-9k tops all three days. Winds L and V tomorrow (double digit west above 10k) south on Sunday and SW on Monday. For the NorCal pilots you want something over 10k to cross the "Badlands." But even if you managed to eke through, the desert doesn't look very good. Breezy SW winds tomorrow and Monday with tops around 6k. Sunday is not much better with SSW winds and 7k tops.
