Just wondering if anyone flew in SB today, besides Elings. I was in Vta. with mom all day it was blowing tons...but Windalert showed about 4 mph max at Bates all day. Any stories?

The eagle crew managed to get epic flights on both Saturday and Sunday up at Dunlap. Saturday saw cloud base at around 5k early on and rising to 7k before the wind picked up in the late afternoon. Congratulations to our new P2 Matthew Vernon from Detroit. He managed to stay up for 1 hour and 20 minutes on his first high flight Saturday, and bagged almost 2 hours on Sunday.

Our group of 10 pilots all stayed up over an hour on Saturday, and we had some pilots fly 3 plus hours Sunday. Things really dried out on Sunday as high pressure was moving into the area. It was still excellent post frontal like conditions with pilots topping out over 7K.

We had a couple pilots take 2 laps today. I got the go ahead from Marge to get on course and have eagle chase pick me up on the drive as I flew south toward home. It was late in the day, and things weren't hot enough on the surface in the flats to make much ground. I managed to fly as far as Orange Cove, and get scooped up by the gang.

Hoping more pilots can join us when the Santa Barbara Soaring Association makes a trip out to Dunlap in September.

Thanks for the updates Rob. I'm definitely planning on getting more airtime this spring/summer!
